FAMOUS FACES AT THE START: ZDENO CHÁRA AND MAREK HAMŠÍK!
The fourth edition of the cycling event L'Etape Slovakia by Tour de France is seeing record interest. The number of registered participants has exceeded the thousand mark for the second time in its history, with over 1,200 cyclists expected to take part this year.
Among them are well-known sports figures such as hockey legend Zdeno Chára, who will tackle the 112 km route The Race, and former football star Marek Hamšík, who will ride the 60 km route The Ride.
The event, held in Bratislava and its surroundings, offers a unique opportunity for amateur and professional cyclists alike to test their skills on various length routes. At the press conference, attended by the new Minister of Tourism and Sports Dušan Keketi, the organizers presented the current state of preparations, new features, and the accompanying program. They also highlighted the significance of the event, which takes place in a similar format in 24 countries worldwide.
This year's new features include a women’s "groupetto" on the 60 km route The Ride, where less experienced female cyclists can ride together with more experienced riders. A special women’s zone will also be set up in the L’Etape Village, where participants can try out skincare products and take commemorative photos.
Cycling fans will have the opportunity to meet the event's ambassadors, Martin and Peter Velits, who are also behind the design of this year's jerseys from their brand Isadore. The event is supported by Škoda Auto Slovakia, which will ensure the safety of the participants with a fleet of electric SUVs and plug-in hybrid vehicles.
The participation of well-known personalities and an interesting accompanying program make L’Etape Slovakia by Tour de France not only a sporting event but also a social occasion that attracts an increasing number of enthusiasts every year.
