How can I become a volunteer and help with the organisation of the race?

Volunteers are needed mainly to help and coordinate the passage of the participants and the peloton through the different towns and villages, to secure the route, navigate, or ensure the safety of the participants and create the overall atmosphere of the race.

How to become a volunteer?

Choose which part of the route you would like to be on: Stupava - Borinka - Lozorno - Jablonové - Pernek - Pezinok - Limbach and send an email to dag.belak2@gmail.com or directly register here: https://forms.gle/Yb1hW7NGiw2ugEMs8.

We are also looking for volunteers for other positions related to the race such as the finish area - medals, refreshments, dispensing from the locker, etc. You can apply for these by emailing monika@becool.sk.

Since the finish is at a different location than the start, how will racers get back to L'Etape Village?

Starting at 10:00 am, at regular hourly intervals - 11:00 am - 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm, we will arrange an organized return of the racers from the finish area (Kamzík) to the start area (Eurovea).

The distance is 6 km, mostly downhill and then on flat ground.

The competitors will meet at the public transport and shuttle stop on Kamzík, about 100 m beyond the end of the finish corridor, and will follow the ŠKODA organiser's vehicle together.

How will the Kids Race be organized?

KIDS RACE - Saturday 24.08.2024 - Start at 09:00.

The Kids Race is divided into categories A (2019-2022), B (2015-2018) and C (2011-2014). Due to the interest of several parents to accompany their children during their often first race (as well as the fact that in category "A" the youngest children will ride not only on bicycles but also on gliders), we have decided to start individual children in groups with a maximum number of 6-8 children. Each child's time will be measured manually and the result lists will be created accordingly.

The children's race will take place on a closed part of Pribinova street in the lanes closer to Eurovea. The length of the courses will be A (400m), B (800m) and C (1600m).

The start and finish of the children's race will be from the same location, identical to the start of Sunday's main race, to enhance the experience for the young athletes.

The fastest children in both the girls' and boys' categories will be rewarded with prizes.

How can fans get from L'Etape Village to the finish line? Is it possible to park at the finish line?

Parking spaces at the finish on Kamzik are limited, so you can use as much as possible either public transport (line 44 and then 144) or the free shuttle service between Eurovea (public transport stop at the start on Olejkárská Street) and Kamzik (stop "Kamzik" about 200 m from the finish).

The shuttle will run regularly from 07:30 to 12:30

Is there a minimum age for racing?

Sunday's Race a Ride is open to juniors aged 15 and over. All racers under the age of 18 must have written permission from their legal guardians, which they will present when collecting their start number at the race presentation. Children under the age of 15 may only participate in the shorter Ride course and only under adult supervision.

What types of bicycles are allowed to start in L'Etape Slovakia?

L'Etape Slovakia is a cycling race for the public, open to road or gravel bikes equipped with road handlebars (known as drop bars) and with a maximum tire width of 35mm, referred to as "bicycles." Electric bikes, as well as carbon spoke wheels and carbon disc wheels, are prohibited in the race.

Is accommodation included in the price?

No, accommodation is at each participant's own expense, the start of the race is in the city centre and there are plenty of hotels and other accommodation options in the surrounding area.

Will there be a pre-race briefing?

There will be a briefing on Friday and Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, which will also be recorded and available on social media. The briefing will cover the start, the route, what to look out for, how to get around, etiquette and all aspects of the event to make the race enjoyable and safe.

Are there group training sessions before the race?

Group training sessions are organised throughout the spring from April until the event in several cities across Slovakia (Bratislava, Nitra, Trnava, Žiar nad Hronom, Žilina, Martin, Banská Bystrica, Košice, Spišská Nová Ves). Before the event itself, there will also be organised group training sessions, which will start directly in L'Etape Village, more info in the event program or on our social networks.

How will the Family Ride be organized?

Family ride is a family non-competitive bike ride with a length of 31km.  The bike ride is together, in one organised peloton, with police and escort bikes. We start from Eurovea at 15:00, cross the Apollo Bridge, along the embankment to the Lanfranconi Bridge and then towards Devín, where there will be a short refreshment station and a break. We will return to Eurovea along the same route. The ride is organised, without overtaking each other, but with all the more enthusiasm and joy. The arrival at Eurovea will be under the L'Etape gate. Each participant will receive a medal and refreshments at the finish.

RIDE and RACE day of event

Why is the start early in the morning?

There are several reasons for the 7:00 a.m. start. The main ones are mainly the hot weather during August and thanks to the early start the racers will arrive at the finish before noon. The second main factor are organisational reasons and traffic restrictions, as the route  is completely closed for other traffic.

Is there a limited time to cross the finish line?

The total crossing time of the race is set at 20 km/h. The time limit is set on the route for both the Ride and Race disciplines.

In addition to the minimum average speed, there are overall passing limits set on the route.

Where is the finish of L'Etape Slovakia 2024

Spectators can use either the shuttle or public transport to get there, the organiser will arrange for the competitors to return together to the starting area (L'Etape Village) accompanied by a ŠKODA escort vehicle. Due to the limited number of parking spaces, we do not recommend moving to the finish by car, there is not enough parking space for all participants at Kamzik.

How far before the start do I need to be in the start corridor? When do the corridors open!

RACE - Corridor opens at 6:30am and closes 6:55am, Race start is at 7:00am.
